I have a series of avi files that i would like to cut down and merge into one. I want to cut out the intro/ending credits/preview from each avi and merge them so the episodes run in order. Eventually, I'd like to convert the merged file to dvd.

I've tried using WinAvi Video Converter to put the same files on dvd, but w/ the intro/ending from every episode on there, I can't fit as many as I'd like.

hi there...

IF all files have same bitrate and resolution, you can use VirtualDub to join them and discard parts you're not interested at.

Other alternative is to use DV-Tool which can do pretty much the same.

Should I merge them before editing? I used VirtualDub to cut out beginning/end and ran into video/audio sync problems.

If I were you I'd do all changes prior to merging.

Audio out of sync usually happens when you're encoding, it has never ever happened to me after trimming a part of the movie. I'd Demux audio from video after finished cropping.

As long as I don't cut out anything - I have no audio/video sync problems. The only problem I had come up when merging w/ virtual dub is the frame size. All but one of the videos are 640X480. Can I use virtual dub to change the frame size?
