Most of those plain shiny silver discs are thermal printable which is exactly what that Casio requires. BUT, however, since you are going to spend around $75 for that Casio, why not just spend about $15 more and get the Epson R200 or R300 and use inkjet printable media??? I want to get one myself, but I have hundreds of silver thermal printable discs right now. (If you are intent on getting that Casio, I can sell you 100 8X +R Verbs and 50 8X -R Taiyo Yuden silver thermal printable discs(both in unopened spindles) for, say, $50 with shipping included because I'd like to get the Epson myself... LOL) Seriously, though, unless you have a stockpile of silver thermal discs, I think that you would be more satisfied with the Epson and inkjet printable media in the long run!!! It is, however, YOUR preference...

I went down the Casio thermal printer path and would recommend against it. The ribbon cartridges are not cheap and promise only 35-40 discs. Colors are possible, but only by switching cartridges and re-printing. The real killer is that the printer will not print across texture changes. So you have to use media which are really blank - no manufacturer's logo, speed markings, etc. Or you have to shoehorn your label into the blank spaces and play games with disc alignment. A real PITA.
After much (failed) experimentation, I put the Casio aside and bought the Epson R200. The Epson is considered a decent photo printer, so the results are very good. Yes, it requires printable media. But there are lots of sources, and the cost, in bulk, is comparable to ordinary discs. Street prices for the printer are hovering around $80-85. I don't yet have experience on how many discs the ink supply will support, and a full set of Epson ink carts is $75. I figure that I am more likely to replace the whole thing with the then-current model rather than worry about replacing ink.
Just my 2-cents worth.

I'm with teflonmyk. That epson r-200 is $80 at sams club,if you have one around. Not only is it a very nice dvd printer,but the photo printing quality is excellent.Another nice feature is I buy the ink at a site called: private.abacus24-7.Only about $20 with shipping for all 6 ink cartridges!
Yo teflonmyk, When you get your epson,you'll love it.
My 2 cents of input!
Edit: $70 bucks for ink, Whoa! Here's where many of us get the epson r-200 ink cartidges. They're even cheaper if you buy 2 sets:

I have both the casio and epson.I got the casio when staples had them on sale for $49.00, sams club is the lowest price iv found for the casio ribbons about $6.00 and like already posted the abacus ink
is the best deal for the R200.I like being able to print on the thermal disc and the casio does a great job if all your after is just simple text.

Just another thought EZINKJETS.COM also sells ink for EPSONs and other printers @ reasonable prices often with free shipping ! for instance awhile back they had a combo pac deal of the inkjets cartridges for my EPSON CX-5200 and for along time I was an EPSON ink only guy (Not a snob just did'nt want to F up mu printer But as y'all know Genuine Epson Cartridges are not cheap ! the lowest price I found them was about $48.00 @ SAMSCUB that's for 1 black & and 1 each CYAN ,MAGENTA, *Yellow 4 cartridges $48.00 + Tax that's $12.00 + per cartridge ! EZinkjets had them on sale with free shipping & 30 percent off = 3 Black cartridges & 2 CYAN ,MAGENTA ,2 YELLOW Generic yes but they work fine ! my price was about $25.00 shipped ! even when my carts are'nt sale priced they're only about 35.00 @EZINKJETS.COM They also have a INKJET TANk system that will fit the EPSON R200/300 series & some other Epson printers ! for you HIGH volume guys & gals ! it cost about as much as the printer does at sams but appears interesting ! anyway this is just another .02 cents worth for your edification & amusement! - Peace & happy BURNING!

Yeah, they are MCC 003. Got an unopened 50 spindle of silver thermal TYG02's from Supermediastore as well to do something with. I already have opened spindles of TY and Verb silver thermal to finish off. I've ordered 200 inkjet printable TYG02's from Rima. They even agreed to give me credit towards the unopened 100 spindle of OEM Verbs (I neglected to tell them that I actually bought them at NewEgg, but they sell them at Rima, too). Just got back from picking up the Epson R200 at Best Buy for $79.99 [$99.99 - $20.00 instant rebate (avoided the Sam's surcharge)]. It sucks that Best Buy here only sells Memorex inkjet printable media. I won't even buy those to practice on!!!

I've got the verbatim +8x full hub printables coded MCC-003,damn fine media. Even my tv home burner loves them and it's only a 4x speed rated burner. I bought them off the net.
Super Wal-mart is only a 5 wood away from me.They have the maxell full hub printable media. The plus 8x's are hitachi's,the dash's I'd guess would be mxl-rg03's,all made in Japan.$15-$16 bucks for a spindle of 25.
I'd like to find some glossier full hub media when my supply runs out.

Where'd you find YUDEN000T02's or TYG02's inkjet printable for 40 cents??? I found the best deals for TY printables at Rima.com (shipping is $3.00 lower than Supermediastore), average 64 cents/disc after shipping, and the best deals for Verb printables (Datalifeplus) at NewEgg (shipping is $4.00 lower than Supermediastore and 2 days faster on East Coast), average 70 cents disc after shipping.

I've seen a few threads that make me question their reputability... Just looked at their site and Rima is cheaper than them as well. Pricing inkjet printable 8X TY's in + and - and inkjet printable +R Verbs... I'm not interested in any other brands...

@yobuzz
i've noticed you recommend shop4tech in MANY of your posts, do you by chance work for them/affiliated in some way? while i do not recommend them personally as i HAVE been scammed with FAKE TYS in the past, but i can believe that their reputation has improved as of late and they are selling LEGIT TYs now...just curious...
in other threads i've noticed that you recommend shop4tech even if it has nothing to do with the topic at hand...if their reputation HAS improved lately, then all the power to them...this is not only MY opinion, but other addicts here on AD have been scammed w/ FAKE TYS from them also~ just wondering where the root of this "push for shop4tech" is coming from...

@saugmon:
I have had bad luck with generic Epson Chinese ink from Meritline. Black was OK but Color clogged my printer to the point of needing repair. Better with TylerMartin.com as they had USA ink. with prices that low on the abbaccas site, quality is a concern for me. Please comment on the quality relative to others you have used.
