i would strongly suggest you NEVER burn @16x..that is WAYYYYY too fast to burn onto media, regardless of how good the quality is...even if using Taiyo Yuden 16x or Verbatim 16x...that's a definite NO NO...the reason it does not play is PROBABLY due to the fact there are TOO many errors on it...increasing the speed of burn, naturally increases the chances of errors~ i personally burn everything @ 8x, which is still considered too fast for some...but, i use quality media, so, they play just fine on my standalones...

please slow it down, it's only a difference of a few minutes at most, it's not necessary to burn so fast~ :) good luck

good 4 u buddy~ :)

i am trying to help out counley as to offer him an opinion as to what might be the problem of WHY his 16x burned media will not play in his DVD player...

if you insist that it works for you, go right on ahead...and admitting you use crap media..ok...it's your money and your burns :)

For his own sake, with CMC Verbs floating around I think even Creaky will buy some Tys.

@ kivory....8x burns....whew thats scary ...i've used fuji sony & maxell media but the furthest i've ever went was 6x even that was too fast i think but i stick to 4x just because some players wont play anything over 4x and some of those x-box & what-nots wont play anything over 2x ....from my own personal experience..but i'm glad you can do the 8x burns. :)

yeah movies...

my burns are fine for my setup, i know it can be scary that i burn at higher speeds than MOST recommend, but, i've done some side by side comparisons between my 4x burns and my 8x burns, naturally, on HIGH QUALITY MEDIA such as TY and Verbatim, scans from kprobe show a few with less errors @ 8x, and the rest...fairly consistent between the 2 speeds.

i don't recommend people burning over 4x like MOST of the other members here recommend, i agree with them completely, i just personally have had great results @8x and until i can prove MYSELF wrong, i will continue to burn ALL my backups at that speed. recommend others to follow my lead, NO , but nobody can convince me otherwise when i have all the proof i need staring me in the face~ :)

LOL float and burn~ :) man, it's too late over here in CA, must be VERY early for you creaky...gonna get sum zzzzs soon, that was a nice laugh before going to bed.

something for burners to remember: slower is USUALLY better, 4x is a good standard to set your burns to...less prone to errors, resulting in good playback quality :) i'm not a role model, do not follow my burning technique unless you are confident with your setup and media~ i just happen to be...so, that's it for now~
