I'm also having problems with this one, but I've narrowed it down to one file on the disk which I keep getting read errors on. Can anyone tell me of a way to get around dvdshrink needing this file as I'm not sure if it's even needed. The file in question is vts_17_1.VOB, but without it, DVD Shrink will not open the files, and I was wondering if there was a work around that anybody knows about?

DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 will do it without a problem.
Then use Shrink for the compression.
Hotel has no special encryption. Dvd Shrink can do it by itself.

AmmoChief, make sure you have the latest editions of those softwares. if you still can't do it, try DVDFab Decrypter. If those don't work, it's not the disk that's the problem.

boones911, make sure the disc is absolutely spotless and not scratched whatsoever. also, try updating your burner's firmware. i have a sneaking suspicion, however, that you got a bad disc.

Do you have anything running in the background like AnyDVD?
If so, shut it down before using DVD Decrypter.

I'm noticing that even with Decrypter the buffer is dropping to 0% and then picking back up and dropping, the read speed is only going to 1.9%. I'm 39% percent through reading it, but there is something different with the copy protection. I haven't tried Fab Decrypter yet, but this is not normal.

Anyone noticed how slow it is reading? My system is not giving no problems with other movies. Nothing running down to OS processes only total of 23. No VIRUS protection installed.

State of the Union - Downloaded AnyDVD - still would not function, changed setting to "safe mode" in AnyDVD. It is working now, but heres the question - what the heck is the safe mode in AnyDVD, exactly what does it do.

By the way, am copying using 1click.

Got 100% complete with newest version DVD Decrypter however still worried about the image being stable due to buffer bouncing around. Trying FAB Decrypter now.

DVD Fab Decypter worked 10 times faster compared to the newest version of DVD Decypter. Once on HD use shrink to reauthor and DVD Decrypter to burn. Working like a champ !!

Just backed up this movie, used DVDD and CloneDVD to burn, movie only. DVDD inserted one dummy sector at VTS_01_1 and after that there were no problems. Also did a full disk analyze in DVD Shrink and there were no problems either.

Purchased XXX State of the Union, came home and used Intervideo Dvd Copy 3 (with Any DVD in the background!) backed up with no problems. I use a variety of programs (Rebuilder/CCE, CloneDVD 2, DvdXPlatinum, ReJig (As a stand alone) then burn with Nero. Using AnyDVD in the background is astonishing. I never have any problems (cross my fingers!), when I back up any of my scratched dvds (kids movies) i will also use DVDXRESCUE. Try the Intervideo Trial download and then back-up your copy of XXX.

I bought XXX State of the Union today & Backed it up with Nero Recode & made another Backup with CloneDVD2 both with AnyDVD (Latest Version) running in the background. Both backups played back flawlessly! PERFECTION. I expected problems due to the "Sony" label, but there were no issues. Now my purchased disc can remain perfect & undamaged. Great Movie too!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Gang - For what it's worth I've just finished ripping XXX state of the union to my hard drive . I used dvd decrypter 1st. then I ran that file through dvd shrink to squeeze it down . I then took the resulting video TS file and created an Iso file with Roxio Creator Classic usiing the data format which brings me to now with the iso file on my HDD awaiting burning !So try DVD Decrypter & then DVD Shrink it seems to have worked for me ! will do another post if any problems show up Good Luck Gang ! Peace & happy burning!

@TECOPOSE

Please turn off your capslock, typing in all caps is against forum rules, it is considered shouting.

You don't need to save it to a folder, just open Clone and choose Clone DVD Titles, and pick the fullscreen or widescreen and burn.

If you want to save to a folder on your hard drive then just choose that option when you get to the output screen, just choose the DVD Files tab, and then direct it to the folder you want to save in.
