when i make a back up with no compression it seems that there are always pixelation problems within the first five minutes of the back up and then it stops. does this happen to anyone else? what is the likely cause?

The consensus would probably be that ur media choice is the culprit. What type of media (blank discs) are you using? Most members here agree that Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell or any media Made in Japan should be your first options.

Very likely the problem is due to poor quality media or burning to fast especially if you are not compressing.

thanks for your responses. Yes i only use verbatim. So i know it is not the media. I agree that it is the burn speed, but can you tell me how to reduce it. shrink only gives me the option of 6x as the slowest burn speed.

Shrink can't burn. It has no burning engine built into the program. Do you have Nero? If so, then thats more than likely what you're useing to burn with.

Are you trying to select write speed prior to loading a blank dvd?

i did attempt that once in order to see if that would allow me to slow down the burn speed. I chose 2.4x with no disc in, but then when I put the blank dvd in the drive i was once again only able to choose 6x as the lowest speed.
