I have some friends that do that and it doesnt seem to cause any damage. I leave my Ps2 Flat on the surface just to be safe.

they do have a vertical stand for the ps2 that will make it more stable at the base.

plus, the vertical position helps cool the ps2 down.

yeah cause if ur standing it upright and it suddenly falls then the disc could get damaged. (as happened to me from an orginal copy of GT4).

I have mine upright (slim PSTwo) and never have a problem
(8 months). It does keep it cooler because there is much less surface area touching another surface like when you lay it flat.
That makes the case heat up much quick, espically if what it is on is plasti or metal or something that holds heat.
