Following the guide, i have done everything required but when i get to the window where i select the size of the file to fit on the DVD, the size is far too large.
Now when i look at the Movie Info, everything is fine except the play time. The film i am trying to convert is around 90 minutes long, while in details it is saying that it is 300 minutes long! Now this is why there is a problem but why is it saying that the avi is much longer than it is??

Also some avi fils, when i try to open them, are not supported. Do i need specific codecs to open them??
Heres the details about them from AVICodec:

Video : 589 MB, 841 Kbps, 23.975 fps, 704*336 (2.21:1), DIV3 = DivX v3 ;-) MPEG-4 (Low-Motion), Supported
Audio : 67 MB, 96 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 3 (MP3), Supported

And :

Video : 503 MB, 868 Kbps, 30.0 fps, 720*432 (16:9), DIV3 = DivX v3 ;-) MPEG-4 (Low-Motion), Supported
Audio : 111 MB, 191 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported

Any help would be really great :) Thanks

Are you trying to back-up a DVD? Or put the movie in some other format.

To tell you the truth I would not use that program to back-up DVD's. When I use TMPGEnc it is only to convert a DVD to my pocket pc because it shrinks the playback size. If you are backing up a DVD I would use DVD Decryter which is a great program for backing up DVD's that are under 4.7 GB. If you get a DVD that is more than 4.7 GB then you should use DVD Shrink and then burn the .iso file with DVD Decryter. Believe me I've backed up 50 DVD's with only these two programs. Good Luck

Twist1 what version of TMPGEnc are you using? I know I saw something about a bug that reports incorrect playing time on some files. There was a way to fix it prolly by setting the headers of the input video but
I don't remember exactly what tool was used. If you google you might find the fix though. Just for future ref.
