i tried dvd decryt, dvdfab, DVD43, nothing, shrinks analyzes it, but the movie shows up black(nothing). help

let us try one thing at a time I don't understand what your normal method is and how/where it is not working I assume you can rip it to your hard drive try using decrypter to rip, open file compresion w/ shrink, then burning iso write mode w/decrypter do you get any errors. if not try opening the disc in the p.c. see what kind of files are on it can you watch the dvd from the files on your hd.
I think I was left w/ more questions than you but if you can help me/us to help you it would be appreciated

I also have experienced problems with this film and have had much success with others. I first used DVD Decrypter 3.5.4 to RIP to harddrive then Shrink 3.0 from harddrive to new folder but displays error after 90% encoding. I tried to go to dvddecrypter.com but have heard some rumor they have been forced from site by Sony. Any knowledge??? Anyone? --- Anyone?

shrink will analyze and u will see the preview screen moving but when it comes up to the movie it analyzes with a black screen, when the movie is over the picture pops back up(like the extras) i think there is a new protection out there, been doingthis for a while with ease. i tried all other programs nothing. dycrypt gets an unknown error . try upside of anger and see for yourself. i handled all of the other problem dvds with no problems. oh after i do with dvdfab or dvd decytp into hardrive, i open it with shrink and the main movie wasnt even there onlu menus and extras

I after DVD Decrypter 3.5.4 (the last build of the software) which allowed me to rip to harddrive. You can then view it with DVD player software ie PowerDVD. If that works then shrink with DVD Shrink 3.2 will shrink it to fit on burnable DVD ( you will have to uncheck the DTS audio to make it fit). This is accomplished with Nero software. The result, an exact copy, which plays fine.

No problems here either but I used AnyDVD with Nero Recode.
Crooks713 - glad you worked it out! Oh & Decrypter was forced out by Macrovision - at least that was what was reported.

@yanksr1 r u changing any thing in decrypter how many files are there when you first open the movie? should get a couple with 1,048,??? or similar are you sure this is not a two disc set like main movie and extras? I'm kinda puzzled I know there are options in decrypter that will select main movie only but I've not noticed any extras only options this is not quite right are u using file or ifo mode?
I'm intrigued I have not tried this title yet It will have to wait til tom though as it is a little late
one more thing get us the log from decrypter.

Just backed up my copy of Upside of Anger. I use a variety of progs, but this time I used Intervideo Dvd Copy 3, even took out the Dolby Digital audio stream (I prefer DTS). It came out just perfect and that is viewing it on a 55 inch 16X9 HDTV (progressive scan dvd player). For longer movies where compression drops down to 70% or less I then use Rebuilder Pro (CCE encoder), output to ISO, burn with Nero. Never fails and the quality is as good as original.
Check out Intervideo Copy 3...you can download a trial version.

Quick reminder: Use AnyDVD in the background. I also use CloneDVD 2. I love the qulaity and ease of backing up with this prog.

AnyDVD running in the background, DVD Shrink Reauthor Main Movie Only, burn with DVD Decrypter. No problems here. No compression.

I have AnyDVD and I opened upside of anger with DVD Shrink and the bar up top has the movie 3/4 in green and 1/4 in red - Looks like it wont shrink it - When i Just move over the main movie it is the same deal. What gives?

got it to work, i had to totally disable DVD43 in the background. i guess shrink and DVD43 were conflicting. anyway it worked with shrink alone.

You were right yanksr1 - took that off and reauthored main movie only and worked like a charm with DVD Shrink. Thanks for the help.

I had problems using DVD Decrypter with DVD43 in background. The DVD would stop at 16%. I then tried DVD Fab express with nothing running in the background and it worked.

thats the first time DVD43 ever interfered with shrink. must be a bug with DVD43 with certain movies. i like AnyDVD but my trial is almost over, i guess DVD43 will do

Backed it up with DVD Shrink to ISO, burned with Nero.
Shut off DVD43 and got Full menus, languages, movie etc.
BTW, I've gotten great results using DVD43 with Decrypter (just used it to RIP). Some difficult movies have been done perfectly this way.

As far as the gifs go, if the mods don't care, why should we? I've seen worse.
As far as decryption goes, DVD Decrypter had DVD43 beat hands down. Decrypter was only abandoned recently. Unless DVD43 was recently updated, it is no more up to date than Decrypter. The best out there is the AnyDVD because it is kept up to date. If a new encryption system comes out they have had a solution in short order so far. I've had the app for some time now and think it was worth the investment. To each their own as some like to say. For those who haven't tried it, http://www.slysoft.com and for those that have, it's time to go back and buy. With Decrypter abandoned, there's no better decryption software available now.

In the last 10 months, using the combination of DVD43, Shrink and DVD Decrypter...I've been able to burn every single new release that's come out. Not one has failed. Sure some needed a tad tweaking but I've gotten full menus, sound etc. without resorting to AnyDVD. But, AnyDVD has a great rep and I'm most likely take the small plunge. I'm sure it's worth it.

Removing DVD worked for me too. I noticed no one wrote the error in copying . It was couldn't find VTS3_03_1.VOB.
This failure appeared using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Sure am glad of this forum as it saved me a lot of work. Thanks to all.

THIS WAS A TOUGH ONE! Tried other forums and programs (even tried InterVideo as suggested in another forum...no good). But finally got it. Here is how. JUST use DVD Shrink and turn off DVD43. Thats it. I got a perfect copy in about 2 hours. I Love a good puzzle.
