Re-authoring to join two dvd's into one problem

I am wanting to join two dvd's (for example LOTR) onto one dual layer and someone mentioned re-authoring with dvd shrink but when I do that they loose there menu functions. Is there ANY way to join two dvd's and still keep there menus. I do like that I can take out certain clips to save room but the menus mess up.

Any ideas????

You could try Nero Recode using the Remake a DVD option, it allows you to add different video files. You would have to rip to your hard drive and then add the files in Nero Recode. Do not know if this would work since I have never tried it, but it is a suggestion. Don't want you to make an expensive coaster though. You can also look at the programs DVD Rebuilder and Cinema Craft Encoder and see if these would do what you want. There is a whole long thread on these programs.

DvdRemake Pro will do what you want.
I dont think dvd rebuilder, or CCE, will do it without DvdRemake Pro.With DvdRemake Pro you can take out whatever you want, and still have the original menu, or make up your own.
The learning curve is a bit steep however,and since I dont buy dual layered media(too rich for my blood)I havent tried it.I do use DvdRemake, but not for joining dvds.Its a great editing tool to prep for DVDRB/CCE.
