TRYING TO BURN DVD ON ARCSOFT AND SAYS ERROR:NO DEVICE DETECTED!!!!!

I HAVE BEEN ON THIS COMPUTER ALL WEEK, ALL NIGHT, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.. I JUST GOT A NEW HP DVD 420i DVD WRITER, IT CAME WITH ITS OWN PROGRAMS: MUVEE AUTO PRODUCER, RECORD NOW-ARCSOFT SHOWBIZ 2, POWER DVD. IN MY DEVICE MANAGER IT SAYS THE DRIVER IS RUNNING PROPERLY.. I AM ABLE TO BURN MUSIC CD'S BUT CANT SEEM TO BURN DVD MOVIES.. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? MY KIT DIDNT EVEN COME WITH MANUALS SO I HAVE BEEN TROUBLESHOOTING WITH EVERY WEBSITE.. I ALSO DOWNLOADED DVD SHRINK,, I JUST NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY DEVICE, I GET AN ERROR THAT SAYS DEVICE NOT DETECTED WHEN TRYING TO ADVANCE IN SHOWBIZ 2, PLEASE HELP, THANKS

Maybe you're not suposed to burn Movie DVD's as they are copy
protected....are they commercial DVD's?
If any other burn problems try the correct media and check the
HP website for Firmware updates.
About the device not being detected did you check in the BIOS if the unit is detected there?

Just make sure there is no compatability issue with your software
environment . Service packs ect...Norton...

You can try to see if HP has a firmware update for the drive. You can also uninstall it from Device Manager and reboot and it should automatically redetect it. Your driver could just be corrupted.

You can check wich Firmware version you already have by going
into Program files--> HP folder--->Umbrella--->My Drive

Its shows you the systeminformation
