Ok, I have two sets of questions.

First one is:

If a game (Makai Kingdom US) doesnt boot with any mode with HD Loader(1,2,3 and any combination of the three), is there anyway possible to play it? The games in particular are Makai Kingdom(US) and Namco X Capcom(JP). I have looked around the boards, and all I could find was rebuilding the games, but thats with Swap Magic, Mods, and dvd burned games. I want to know if something like that is possible with games(ISO) that are put onto a HDD(via HDL DUMB/WinHIIP). I know both have a set of options before putting it onto the HDD, but im not sure which would work. BTW, Makai Kingdom is 1.2 gigs, and Namco X Capcom is around 3 or 4 gigs, not sure exactly.

My 2nd question is:
Does HD Loader work with WinHIIP? As I put a bunch of working games on my HDD via HDL DUMB, but getting frustrated with the games mentioned not working, I tried WinHIIP for Makai Kingdom, and then after that, HD Loader would always say that "HDD not detected" in the PS2.

BTW, all my other games work flawlessly, and only KOF Neo Wave required Mode 3.

Thanks alot in advance, and if there is anything wrong with my post, let me know. Much help is appreciated.

This, http://list.ps2hd.com , is the best PS2 HDL/HDA/Toxic OS compatibility list that I know of. It lists Makai Kingdom as HDL compatible. You could try rebuilding the game before you install to your HDD if you want. Although rebuilding sometimes makes games incompatible with HDL.

As far as HD Loader working with WinHIIP it does. But it has issues when you install games with HDLDumb then install with WinHIIP. Basically what it comes down to is that you have to use one or the other. I prefer WinHIIP myself. :)

I'll give you my honest recommendation that I give everyone regarding HDL/HDA compatibility. If you can, install the updated HDL 0.7c onto your memorycard as part of an exploit. It has better compatibility "out of the box", and a lot more compatibilty options to mess around with. Plus you can play DVD9 games with it(GT4, God or War,etc.) by installing an image of the game you make with DVD Decrypter via WinHIIP. If you want to make an exploit the easiest way is to use Independence Compiler which you can get, and find out more about here http://console.iscentral.net/news.php .

Hope i've helped at least a little. :)

WOW, thank you soo much for the help and that site, I really appreciate it. I am going to try to rebuild it later in the day. I was checking on the site, and it says under Makai Kingdom and Namco X Capcom alike, "Compatible or doesn't have issues that can fixed with modes"

Just wanted to know what that meant? Its kinda confusing, as its compatible and might have not problems with modes, but there could still be problems, and it has to do with the image? Is that what it means? Futher help is also much appreciated.

Thanks alot.

Yeah that one is worded badly. It means (i'm pretty sure at least, lol) that the game works and shouldn't need any modes to be enabled.

Ok, I got everything done as you said. I also got HDL 0.7c as part of the MC Exploit, and using that, every game, other than Makai Kingdom works flawlessly. I tried rebuilding the ISO, but I get the error during cdvdgen "too short location length (less than 600000 sectors)". I cant get further than that in order to rebuild the ISO. If anyone can continue to help me, that'd be great, or atleast point me in the right direction. BTW I am using the rebuild guide over at the "PS2 BACKUPS" section of the forum.
