Hey everyone.
I'm seriously thinking of buying the new slim version of the ps2 since I'll be able to easilly carry it with me and its looks are very attractive.
Now, I'm thinking I don't want to void the warranty and risk fucking up the laser lens, so I thought thatbuying the Swap Magic thingy with the slidecard (or do I need this...switch thingy?) would be better and wouldn't harm my PSTwo in anyway.
My question is, though, will it play games with such a success rate as a chip would? Also, is it easy to swap games or do you have to do it super fast and all?
I'd like some experiences from people who have both or just swap magic. Thanks in advance!

A modchip is a must have add on, but if you dont want to loose you r warranty the only way would be a SwapMagic (with the tool set) to swap the game you 'll have kind of 6 seconds (it's enough time) so its not hard to do, but its a pain in the *** have to do that every time and still have to keep it around all the time both cds (1 for DVD games 1 for CD based games) if you dont care about your 1 year warranty and want to have the freedom of just play with no swap needed i would get the mochip with the laser fixer(for slim), by the way you would spend more money too!!!LOL

Does the swap disc play almost every game?
Also, can I find Swapmagic in legal, legitimate game stores (especially in the UK) or can I only order it off the net?

Daniel_G, if you're from the UK (or know about it), do you know of a good site that's in the UK where I can buy Swapmagic so that I won't have to pay extreme money for taxes and shipping?
And thanks for the info, TigraoZT, I'm gonna check out the site.

if you are buying a new slim, save your money and get it premodded
with a chip and laser fix.
Swap Magic works fine, but it is more hassle when you have to swap, rebuild ISO's, and god forbit you want to use a cheat disc.

I'm not risking fucking up my lense again and voiding my warranty.
So all I have to do for Swapmagic is rebuild the games? Won't my old games work with Swapmagic? I mean the copies that weren't rebuilt in the first place.

not all games need rebuilding only dual layerd ones and some others
ive only had to do 4-5 out of 80+
i do a 1:1 with nero on the standard ones
for using cheat disk i use the max evo edition
first cheat disk then find codes then swap magic then backup
work every time for me

So you just make a straight copy (on the fly) and it works? Or do make a temporary image and then burn it? I have to do the latter since I only have one drive on my laptop.

How do you patch, rebuild games, etc?
I could use some links or guides since I'm a total newb at this.
I used to make straight copies of games and they'd work, but now it seems things are different.

Does anybody know if I'll need a Lens Fixer for an older (Chubby) modded PS2?? or are they only needed on the newer slim versions??
