Guys going to buy the flip top/swap magic 3.6 and want to know if I understand everything first. The cd's to use it seems are TDK, Philips, Verbatim, Ritek G04 DVD-R. Am I correct? PS2 I have is 39001 = Version 7 , is there any downside to having this model? Also, do I still need to open it up and find out what type of laser I have? Thanks for any info and help.

if your gonna use fliptop you have to change the whole top of your playstation

you dont need to know what laser you have

i have a fliptop on my V7, from what i read the V7 is the best of the older style PS2's
It is easy to install the Flip top, just a few screws and swapping te power/eject button, also removing the DVD Drive cover
You will need a very small screwdriver for this, like one used to repair eyeglasses. You can get eyeglass fix kits in most drug store.
DVD-R 8X are best and those brands should work great.
You will not need to know anything about the laser for this mod.
