Hey..im thinking of buying a DVD burner since theyre pretty cheap and im sick of wasting 50 bucks on ps2 games but i really dont know nothing about computer stuff and i would really aprecciate some help.

I have an Emachines computer with a CD Burner and a DVD Rom and i want to install a DVD Burner....do i have to install it by screwing it in and all that stuff or
is it just plugging it in??Im hearing stuff about external and internal Burners but i dont really know what that means, and when i read about external burners i see something about needing 2.0 usb but im not really sure if i have that or not .I saw some Pioneer burners at good prices or would you recommend Sony or something else???

my computer info by the way..if it helps its Windows XP 448MB of RAM 2.17Ghz AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Home Edition 120GBfree space.

Also im not sure wich media to get im mostly interested in "backing up" my PS2 games so DVD-R should be the stuff that i should buy or are most games needed to be burned with Dual Layer discs??

Please Help..I would Appreciate it

Thanks!!

i keep seeing usb 2.0..............i have 5 usb ports but im not sure if theyre 2.0 or not?

hi

there is a ps2 forum for the adavanced stuff you need to know but burners your in the right place...

ok go for internal its less hassle! its consists of taking a spare plastic face out the front of your pc and sliding the drive in, you can connect 2 drives to one cable and there should be a spare 12volt 4pin plug inside ready for you!

so 2 cables to sort and 4 screws to put in to hold the drive! = easy!

now the bit that you need to get right is if you use 2 drives on one cable you need a master and slave setup

this is achieved by looking at the tiny jumpers on the back of the drive there is usually a picture saying where to slide the jumper on terminals for slave or master!

1 drive must be master and 1 drive slave!

thats basically it!

on buying a drive i would say PIONEER or LITE-ON !!!!

on media i have used RITEK GO5 (brand name is RITEK and dye info is ritek go5) on games but check outthe ps2 forums

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

download DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 both free dvd shink will do ur films also so will dvd d which is a ripper which means rip the dvd from the disk to ur hard drive DVD Shrink shrinks the film original films are 7 to 8 gig and shrink makes it 4.35 to fit on a DVD5 normal blank dvd burning ps2 games use DVD Decrypter in iso mode read and then write to put it on a blank disc write at 2x for best results ur ps2 needs a modchip or swapmagic to play backup games hope this helps ps dont be fooled into buying cheap blank dvds its not worth the hassle get good branded media sony verbatim t.yuden all my choice
