i dont know about the versions of the ps2's and stuff but the back of mine says ncph-5001/N does that mean i have a v5 this might b a stupid question but idk thanks!

SCPH50001 = v9
But i only know the codes for NTSC systems.
If it is a PAL system, check the web for any stores that
sell cases for them, they always have a version chart.

Why do you ask, are you looking to buy a new one. Newest model will have the best specification, but non slim lines are still going strong.

I have a V.7, and I ordered my Swap Magic 3.6 a while ago. (they got delivered, but had a crack in the dvd, so I RMA'd. I'm waiting for my replacement now) I am worrying whether or not my ps2 can play backups.

If you have managed to fit your flip top lid you will be OK when your Swap Magic disks arrive.

Load disk in flip top, make sure it is seated level, close lid, press the reboot / start button.

When load program screen appears, take out swap disk, load your backed disk, close lid and press X or square on the controller (can't remmber which) and backed up game should load.

Make sure you have the disks sitting down on centre spindle nice and tight or you can sometimes get abortive boot ups.

You can play original PS2 games just by inserting and pressing boot / start up button.

The difference between versions is that
NTSC is USA and PAL is Europe
There are differnt screen rates between here (USA)
and there. That is why they make games in both
NTSC & PAL. If you have a good mod chip your
PSTwo will play either type as long as your
TV can support both.

And i am hoping that everyone knows by now that
Swap Magic alone will NOT allow you to play back up
games.

Steimy is correct. I assume you have fitted a flip top to your PS2. You cannot use the swap disks without modding the lid as well or using the "tool" thing.
