If you do not have a modchip then yeah you need it. You will also need swap magic to play burnt games. You can buy it from here http://www.gocybershop.ca/customer/home.php

I got my slim PS2 cover for $23 from http://www.ultimateconsoleguides.com/FlipTop.htm

Shipping is included on all they're prices. Decent, received the cover in 4 days from the time the order was placed. Not too shabby.

Really i dont know the best thing to do is try to tape it down or find something that can hold it down right.if all else fails buy the hole case instead of just the fliptop at http://clearxbox.com

no, a flip top is not necessary and really it's not too good of an idea. it comes with a flip top, after all...you simply need the ghost kit, or even tissue paper and scotch tape!

Yes, the slimline PS2 already has a flip top. Installing and aftermarket Flip Top (replacing the origonal), you can then use SMD without the cumbersome scotch tape, or magic "hastle" switches.
