compress a dvd to 1.4 gigs

hi ive got a couple of my dvds i want to convert to the small 1.4 disks so they'll take up less space around the dvd player. but dvd shrink wont allow me to compress the dvd to that size, even after taking off the extra features and extra audio files.

is it possible to this with dvd shrink? ive tried doing this with clone dvd2 but the quality was terrible.

You can do it with dvd shrink but the end result is going to be just as bad as clone.Ratdvd can do it too, but im not impressed with that program yet(its new)

ive tried that rat dvd aswell and its not very impressive. it takes ages compaired to any others ive tried to do anything.

what if i was to create a high quality DivX or mpeg and then convert that to a 1.4 gig dvd?

would that make a difference seeing as i wouldnt be compressing the file?
