OK I am fairly new to the world of DVD Backup and brand types of DVD-Rs. So I am cerious as to what brand name of DVD-Rs is perferde by most, and to which of the DVD-Rs are of the best quality?

For example my one friend uses nextech and swears by them.

While my other friend uses memorex and says they are of the best out there.

I however am unsure of which side of the faces to be on, or wether there is another side to be on. So I am wondering what is the best quality DVD-Rs out there, Which brand name has the best bang for the buck, I am not cheap so I would pay top dollar for top quality, So Will someone please let me know of which DVD-R or even DVD+R band would have the best quality. Thanks for your help and opinions.

Most of the people in here agree that Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim "Data Life Plus" are about the best. Some other very good brands are Sony, some Maxell, and a few others--Looking for "Made in Japan" can be helpful as you can be assured they are good quality--Many of the store brands and Memorex specifically buy from many different manufacturers and therefore are not reliable--Look around these forums and you will get plenty of info--
