Opinion questions - PLEASE HELP!!!

OK, sorry to be a broken record. I have read many forums on this topic, but I was hoping for some personal opinions on the following questions. Let me say first I am a perfectionist, so please bear with me.

-First off DVD Shrink or Recode? Both are of the same creator, but does one make generally a better copy? I realize shrink is at the end of it's rope and will not be updated anymore. Opinions please!!

-How much compression is too much compression (percentage wise)? I'm a perfectionist, and want to make full back ups. I dig the menus and extras, but realize they need to take a hit to make the actual movie better. Whats a good formula, and have the movie over all be the same as the original?

-How much of a compression hit can the back-up take and not be noticable on a HDTV?

-IN DVD SHRINK - which are the best burn options (Sharp, Smooth, etc.) I always use deep analysis, and on Recode I check both quality enhancement options (why not?)

I realize everyone has found their own special "recipie" and to each his or her own. I do not have the resources to experiment tho, so I hope someone can help. Or, I could just wait for DL's to come down in price!!!

Welcome to the forum. Let's take your questions one at a time:

1. Your 1st question is a toss up but I vote for recode

2. Compression- if it is over 25% then I use DVDrebuilder along w/ CCE. If you want full backs up you need to go to Dual Layer disks

3. I have a 40"HDTV and using Recode or Shrink ( movie only )w/ compression up to 25% no problems. If over 25% then I use the other program and have no artifacts. It really depends on the TV and the program you use. Suggest you look at DVDRebuilder and CCE ( total cost $50.00+ US)

4. In Shrink the more compression I use Max Smoothness

If you want near perfect copies wait for the price to come down on D/L blank media
