@counley - for the kprobe question, just download the newest one. see the 1st post in the 1st link in my sig for some info re scanning using kprobe.

snippet from a reply i did recently - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/217761 -
Quote:
What i usually say to people on the subject of scanning is to buy top notch media, and once everything is up to date, ie firmware, burn speed, no multitasking yada yada yada, to CRC scan a few disks so you know they're fine, watch a few obviously, and maybe PIF scan a few. All obvious stuff but my point is that i think it's too easy to get worrying about the PIF scan stuff. I see how much effort goes into scanning over at cdfreaks and sometimes i do think they go overboard with it. Most people just want to burn and watch their discs, knowing that they can safely spend their money wisely and not care about redoing it later. In fact i posted a similar comment a few mins ago on cdfreaks - http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=144378%26goto=newpost

@gear79 - about google. tell me about it, it's spooky, all i ever see are shedloads of my own posts. wierd that :)

Creaky is the program Kprobe used for checking blank DVDs or for checking ones that I have burned? I downloaded the program now need a little help with making it work like after I insert the disk what do I click? What I want to do is check a DVD movie to be sure it is good beforI give it as a gift. I guess the correct wording is to analyze the disk for errors

in kprobe you (using the burnt disk) click on the play icon near top right of kprobe. this goes thru the disc and at the end produces a graph.

to also CRC scan the disc for errors, use dvdinfopro - http://www.dvd-recordable.org/wwwimgs/media/flash/dvdinfopro/dvdi... and click on the CRC scanning icon

@counley,

Looks like everyone has pretty much sorted things out for you already, and now may I add one more thing. Please get rid of Roxio if you can, that program won't do any good to you regardless if it's now or later. The sooner you get rid of Roxio, the better you'll have more successful back up in the future. Just a note for you to keep in mind that's all.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

counley, both Nero and roxio have packets in them that should not be installed. Nero has IN CD and roxio has Drag To Disc. These packets can cause problems! There's a few members out there that have both.

yes, i 100% agree with saugmon & alkohol, ditch roxio and nero's in cd
both roxio and Nero fight each other.
i read about nero's in cd in aD, so i dupmed it. i guess i never saw any problems with in cd, but a little icon in my tool tray always poped up till i dumped it. mine came with sonic and my muvees, which i think both sucked, also came with windvd/cd but i dont use em.
good luck !!

@counley - cool if you get on well with Roxio, many people don't and we usually recommend to not have both Nero and Roxio as they don't play well together, especially the packet writing parts of them, ie inCD and <can't remember the name of Roxio's equivalent packt writing bits n' pieces>

i personally detest Roxio, i used to use Easy CD Creator many years ago, but i found their programs to be unstable at one point so i switched to Nero and never looked back. In fact i have not ever had one single problem with Nero in many years (nudge, nudge) :)

The best place is rpc1, but their site is down at the moment and I hope it comes back up. What is the make/mocel and current firmware of your other burner.

I'm posting for a while via handheld so can't copy/paste, but just try googling for 'rpc1 firmware' or 'creaky firmware afterdawn' - that last one should take you to firmware for something, from there you should see the page for other drives' firmware..
