I think I found a small solution on how to overcome that. It may or may not work. So Good Luck!

yes cleaning and adjusting the laser can help fix
DRE problems, but what he is saying about your PS2
starting to do this right when the warranty runs out
is a total crock of bullpuckey.
It is totally untrue. I have had my V7 about 3-4 years
now. the only DRE i have gotten is when i back up a game
and it gets a bad burn due to things like dummy files,
which is almost never.
