I use Memorex DVD+R, DVD+RW, and Philips DVD+R and -R all 4x. I just saw a deal on a 100 pack of Sonic -R 8x thermal white printable bulk pack for $22.50 with free shipping. Has anyone used these with any luck or are they garbage? Thanks

I doubt they're any worse than what you're already useing. If you're having good luck with memorex and phillips then you're in about the 2 percentile that do. Good chance they will be unplayable in 6 months or so. Good luck. I'll try to locate some good media (verbatum or taiyo yuden) for ya for a little more but well worth it.

Do you mean that not only do I have to make sure I do not buy coaster material but also life expectancy? I've been doing my backups for well over a year and I think they still all play great. Burn at either 2.4 or 4x. I also used alot of fuji.

Here's some codes for sonic media:
Sonic DVD-R 2x (............)
Sonic DVD-R 4x (LONGTEN001)
Sonic DVD-R 4x (MUST001)
Sonic DVD-R 4x (NANYA-JC001)
I don't trust any of those mfgs!
Memorex and phillips use a lot of cmags.Cmags aren't very good, but I have no trouble on the few I had. Many members do have trouble with them.

sonic dvds are crap~ end of thought...those media IDs that saugmon so graciously put up...aren't even on the same level as CMC MAG...that SHOULD tell you something...
CMC MAG=crap...and those media IDs aren't even = to CMC MAG, believe it or not, they are WORSE~ i'll bet you 100 Taiyo Yudens those are PROBABLY made in taiwan (that would be average, or they are made in some off-shoot manufacturing company in hong kong or china or heck, bangladesh for all anyone knows)...definitely NOT in japan~ you can usually spot "bad or crap media" by the pricing of them from various online retailers...if it "sounds too good to be true, it usually is"
100 pack WHITE PRINTABLES for $22.50? w/ free ship? c'mon get real...TYs value pack 4x silver shiny's are not even that cheap...garbage garbage garbage....stay away

depends on what speed rated ones you want...the store is called:
www.supermediastore.com i purchase MOST of my online bought media from them and have done so for a long time...
a good price would be between $0.25-$0.33/disc for the 4x TYGO1s DVD-R TYs...for the 8x speed Taiyo Yudens, $0.37-$0.41/disc is considered good~ :)
hope that gets you started, welcome to the land of TY~ :)

Thanks. I burn at 4x at most. I have a Nec-2510 I don't think it's rated for more than 4x but it will DL. I will wait until the dl's come WAY down in price. Thanks again.

3 of my co-workers have the nec 2510. It's a very good burner. They don't care what discs they slap in them and a lot of them are cmags. I believe it has the burn speed of 12x,but they do burn them as slow as they can, mainly the dash format.
I picked up some verbatim +dl 2.4x for one of them. $85 for 24 discs.$3.50 a pop. We just divied them up. I finally fed my benq one of those dl's and it loved it.
7.8 gigs on 1 disc and a perfect playback.
