I downloaded a torrent full of files that are in ".ogg" format. I don't know what it is but I can't get anything to play them. Is there a converter that I can use to change them to Mpeg or Avi or something?

I am looking right now and I can't find anything about .ogg files. Maybe you could just be helpful and point me in the right direction.

I think they are audio files (from the Ogg Vorbis codec)

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

i only see Ogg files mentioned in regards to Linux media players. I don't know what you do with them in the Windows world without further googling.

@TyRock22 - i haven't come across these files for ages, only in Linux. I know what they are but haven't converted one in a v. long time so don't remember how i did it (probably did it in Linux). I've used google to try fill in the blanks for you, but being rude to someone offering you free help is frowned upon around here.

stop being so ungrateful, we pointed you in the direction of the codec your files are in. so now its up to you to go searching around the vorbis websites and find how to convert them.

no-one here has been rude to you. However you come back here after 2days and start with the attitude again. Would you ring up a (paid-for) Tech support line and bark at someone the same way ?. we've been giving you help despite your comments. Have you looked at any of the info in any of the replies, as hopefully you will be able to convert/play them if you do.

creaky all you did was give me a generic hints to a site that supposedly had what I was looking for. When I asked you to be a little more specific you just blew me off and expected praise. I am not ungrateful because you have not done anything for me to be grateful for!

I did read it, I went through that guides page like 10 times and when I asked for more help you were rude. And your little sentence from the Ogg site was not helpful. I wasn't asking what it was I was asking how to convert it. Which by the way was never answered.

when you needed more assistance, you were very rude about it.

I don't know about you, but that seems like a pretty bad attitude to have towards people who are HELPING you for FREE to fix your problem. Swallow your huge ego and just accept the fact that you've had an unnecessary attitude about this whole thing. Ever heard of the word "thanks"???

You were given several links to ogg vorbis sites that if you actually read I'm sure had links to applications to convert the files. You asked for help and you got it.

THANKS???????????

HA

Thanks for what? You didn't do anything! The second post in this thread by you was "have you looked in guides section at top of page ?" Like I'm stupid. I was just asking a question. You could have been a little bit more specific. Or since you yourself didn't know the answer, just NOT POSTED AT ALL.

Not all of us know exacty where to look ... and Ty did ask to be more specific and added the word please.

Note that if you would have just been a bit more specific and not added the "stop being a dick" and "stop being ungrateful" none of this would have happened.

I admit I did throw more fuel on the fire, I just felt that the general attitude was a little ungrateful.

I appologize.
