I just got a 25 pack of Sony DVD+R 8x, but the label says they are made in Taiwan. Are these discs any good? I know Sony that are made in Japan are good, but what's up with these Taiwan Discs? I cannot give the code because I have not opened the spindle. This way I can take them back if they are garbage discs.

Thanks

I've burned a few 25 pack spindles of the taiwanese sony +1x-8x.These worked very well for me. But watch your max burn speed setting. Many of the newer 16x burners, like mine, will burn these 8x discs at 12x and 16x!

The mfg code should be SonyD11

The japanese sony +1x-8x are made by Taiyo Yuden with the mfg code of Yuden000-T02. These also will allow me to burn at 16x.

You should be ok with them.I just hope you didn't pay more that $10 for them.

If you got them at a local store, most of them will take them back as long as you still have the outer shrink wrapper and receipt.Even if they are opened.

What's your burner brand name and model#?

Got them at Walgreens for $13. I use a Pioneer DVR-A09XL. I use DVD Decrypter and burn at 4x.

You should be ok with them. I've heard the pioneer prefers dash format. There's a chance your burner may not like them. That holds true with any burner.

4x burn speed is what I burn at. Pretty safe!

The MIJ's are better but I've heard that the MIT's are OK(I wouldn't settle for them though). If they don't work good bring 'em back...keep the wrapper as they'll need it to scan. Most big store will take returns regardless if open or not.
