I need a program that decrypts...shrinks...and burns with ease. I spent countless hours at my pc trying to burn movies..wasted money on blank dvds that I ruined..to get hitch..are we there yet...etc..Why do you need to be some file fanatic....shuffler of videos to get some sort of completion. I have dvd and dycrypter and shrink..but still cant burn

you might try clonedvd2 w/ any dvd or DVD43 running in back ground
but imo you have the best tools already in your grasp just a little patients and a little help from your friends here@ ad and you will soon be burning like you took that girl home last new years after the tequila worm(ahh quiet reflection)

DVD Decrypter &
DVD Shrink and
CloneDVD 2
and use the programs in that order

Rip your movie in file mode with DVD Decrypter and then use DVD Shrink to encode you can then use Decrypter to burn. If you have AnyDVD then either use it with Shrink or CloneDVD both programs will encode. You can burn with Clone but not with Shrink, there is no reason to use Shrink and Clone you are only encoding your movie twice and it wastes time. Did you read the guides at

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html

Just hit the guide tab and there are guides for all the programs.

Try AnyDVD from Slysoft. You get a free 21 day trial and coupled with Dvdshrink and Nero has not let me down yet! I backed up both movies you mentioned on Taiyo Yuden media and both are flawless. AnyDVD is the best money I've ever spent online!

@hiccup

About 3 months ago, I was feeling the same identical frustration you are feeling. Now, (knock on wood), I have created only 1 coaster and it was my fault.

There are several good step-by-step gudies listed on this site (particularly those from ScubaPete and bbmayo). I printed them out and have them in a binder right next to my pc. I have burned copies in 2 different ways. I have used Decrypter & Shrink, and the other combo is AnyDVD & CloneDVD2. I use the 2nd. combo the most. I guarantee that if you use bbmayo's guide for CloneDVD2, you will be successful. There are only 4 or 5 "clicks" and the burn is complete. I personally only copy the main movie because I don't care about the other stuff. Last night, I burned The Last Samurai and Bridget Jones (something about Reason). Bridget took 1:04 start to finish and Samurai took 1:22. When I want to "play around" a bit, I will use Decrypter & Shrink.

Hope this helps you. I am listed as a "member", but I am still a newbie that wants to learn more. I almost quit right after I first attempted to burn something because I was so frustrated. I burn a lot movies now. This place rocks.!

I've seen that some like to use DVD Shirnk to make the ISO, but then use Nero or DVD Decrypter to actually burn the DVD. Why add the extra step if DVD Shrink will burn the DVD?

Because Shrink does not burn, it just encodes and compresses :)

Well you are the only one because Shrink on its own cannot burn, only encode and compress. Decrypter burns, Nero burns, CloneDVD burns, etc. Shrink does not burn.

After it analyzes a dvd or files from HD. I select full or re-author. Then I click backup and in the box that pops up there is a tab labeled "Burn Settings" with Label and Burn Speed options. This is all in DVD Shrink.

@aldar - as Arniebear has stated, that's because it's actually using Nero or DVD Decrypter to actually burn the DVD. Shrink cannot burn on it's lonesome. Period.

Now go into Shrink's preferences, click on the 'File I/O' tab, and you'll see a tickbox - entitled 'Enable burning with Nero'

AHHH. That makes sense. I was thinking Shrink was doing it because it was all the same GUI. That makes sense. Thanks.

So since I'm using either AnyDVD or DVDFab Decrypter (Haven't decided yet) with DVD Shrink. Should I disable "Remove Macrovision", "Remove P-UOPs" and "Remove layer break" options in DVD Shrink since the decrypters do this already right?

IMHO just leave all the defaults alone in Shrink, it works fine with them all checked. You may at some point want to just use Shrink alone for ripping and then would have to remember to go back and reset them.

Did you rip to your hard drive using Decrypter in file mode and then use Shrink, because Shrink will not handle these movies. Also, you can try the 21 day trial of AnyDVD and run it in the background and the just use Shrink for your rip and then burn with Decrypter or Nero if you have it. Also you can try the free ripper DVDFabDecrypter available at http://www.filepedia.com. This can get around the protections. Just rip to your hard drive with it and then use Shrink and your burning program :)
