Swap Magic is a cheaper way to boot games and doesnt void your warrenty, to use it you will need the "Swap Magic " original discs and either the "Slide tool" or "Flip-Top replacment case" for older, bulkier version PS2's, or, the "Magic Switch Pro" or "Flip-top Cover" for the slimline PSTwo's.
If you get a mod chip, your best to go with a professional to install it, if you try to and something goes wrong and if it cant be undone you wont be very happy. It may cost more for a professional but its better to be safe than sorry :)
