video playback problems

first time poster. great site everyone. here is my problem.using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink or anydvd and clonedvd both sets of combos work fine for me to burn dvd movies except,when i play the burned movie the video playback is like over exposed,the colours are so bright. please help, have a liteon 1693s burner, 1.4celeron cpu 512mb memory 128mb gforce video card s/blaster audigy,80gb and 40gb h/drive.

I thought an overexposed pic is always washed out. If your colors appear too bright then adjust your television, your backup sounds like it is correct, unless your colors are bleeding all over.

There really isn't any way the programs you mentioned are going to cause an "overexposed" condition. (The nice thing about digital media is that you don't get analog type problems...well you shouldn't, at any rate.) Check your playback equipment by trying the DVD in another player or your computer. Compare the playback with the original and see how it looks.

About all I can think of at the moment is that maybe a lot of compression could cause this. I have had some odd things happen when I compressed with Shrink below 55% or so but that usually just made the picture look "grainy" ie, large pixel artifacts. I never noticed a color problem though.

I agree on the overcompression, I get the grainy look and washed out colors, and some ghosting effects.

thanks everyone for all your responese. i saved the file to my h/drive using dvdshrink, then i opened powerdvd and played the movie from my hard drive before burning and the same thing happens, it's like i have to much colour. have tried this back up movie in another pc with a dvd player and also a portible dvd player all with the same results.i checked my dma mode and all is ok,checked my video driver and all is up to date,bought new DVD-R maxell 4.7 gb 8x 120min but no sense trying to use them untill i find out the recording problem.it is recording the video problem into the file to burn. i have win xp celeron 1.4mhz gforce 128mb v/card s.blaster audigy, 80gb 7200rpm and 40gb 7200 rmp h/drives 512mb memory. hope this helps someone out there to find out my problem.

thanks everyone for all your thoughts. tried another movie using DVD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink re author and selected the movie only with no ending credits and then DVD Decrypter to burn the file and everything is ok,just did a new mocie with AnyDVD and CloneDVD first time and everything is ok. so again thanks for all your input. this is the best form site,keep up the good work, hope to be a regular poster here in time.

hello everyone, like to inform you all if anyone has this same problem (overexposed video playback) please check out our video card driver web page.it so happent the the version i was running had a few problems, took some time for me to find a newer version and after installing that one everything works fine. again thanks for all your help.
