has anyone in here had any luck with the start/end frames feature in DVD shrink. I've attempted to use it several times to generally drop the first and last chapter, because the usuallt contain credits or insignifcant itmes, to regain disc space for minimal compression to preserve the video quality, with no luck what so ever. anytime I back up a disc with those changes I get unsuccessful burns. I was having troublw with Iron Maiden Rock in Rio and finally had to resort to using more compression, which inevitably reduced the video quality. I tried splitting Drean Theater Budokan onto 2 disc using the start end frames feature so that the content of the disc would be in half to easily fit onto 2 discs, no luck with that again. am I misusing the start end frames feature somehow?

Hmmmmm, strange I use that feature all the time and i dont get any burning issues. Got me stumped, try making a image with DVD Decrypter first and then give it ago. Because i do it for the same reason as you to get rid of credits, and its great when backing up Tv Series because you can cut out the recap in front of alot of episodes:-D Hope someone can solve ur problem :-)

Im guessing your problem is something other than using the start/end frames feature.

to dude2099 describe the making a image with DVD Decrypter procedure to me. ive only used the title setting in decrypter so far, that's pretty much the extent of ripping dvd'd for me. I'm not really familiar with the other procedure or the the reasons why I might take another route. I would appreciate some direction in that area.

Assuming you have it installed.
Go to the top menu, with the DVD in the drive that you want to backup. And Go MODE > ISO > READ
Then click on the little yellow folder, which is displayed in the DVD Decrypter window and choose your destination where you want the image and name the file.
Then click the DVD > HD picture and it should take roughly 10-15mins depending on the speed of your drive.
The mount the image with either Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% or maybe slysofts version not sure what its called.

Sorry ill make it one easier and take out the mounting this should still work. Ive done it a while ago but i dont see how it wouldnt work in this situation. Instead of selecting ISO from the MODE menu select file. That way you can put the files straight into DVD Shrink. Just when in shrink instead of selecting OPEN DISC select OPEN FILES and go to the folder where you have ripped the disc to.
