PRE-MOD NO CHIP? Plays backups

I need some questions answered please. That is if anyone can help. I have ventured into the world of X-Box. I have been a Playstation (1 and 2) chip installer and have made several backups. Now I have purchased an X-box that was premodded. I am in Iraq (U.S. Army) and purchased here locally (Baghdad) the console plays backups that I have purchased here, I took it apart to see what chip was installed and too my surprise I didn't see one. The console is new I am thinking it is a version 1.6, Also the box says power supply is 110 volts, The back of the console says 110 volts, and when I took the cover off, the power supply has 110 volts written on the parts. THe thing is it only works on 220 volts. The place where I bought it from says they converted it to 220 volts and installed a chip. nothing I see in the box has been changed. My question is, can the power supply be rewired to 220 volts? and also how is the Console playing backups without a modchip? The Dash installed is Evox. Also has HDD loader 1.1 and the genesis emulator with games. I have already FTP'd into the box and checked things out. I am able to rip games, watch movies and copy to the HDD but I just don't see a chip. So anyway I took lots of digital pics, If anyone is interested I still have the original box and all drive information and serial#s available. I am thinking this came straight from China and has a hacked bios. The bios version doesn't come up on the screen.
