PS2 HDD In Computer?

I want to put a backup that's on my computer on the PS2 HDD, found a few solutions, but all of them require, at some point, connecting the PS2 HDD to the computer. It won't work.

The jumpers are set correctly, it's plugged in correctly, but the computer won't detect it and won't boot. Does the official sony PS2 HDD not work in a computer or something?
