I try booting my battlefront in my swap magic 3.3 dvd but an error keeps saying not a valid ps2 disc.

Could be several problems. Have you sucessfully backed up other games? What media are you using? What speed a you burning at?

This is my first backup. Im using Imation DVD-R 8x disks burning @ 1x

I'm confident that it's not the media cause Imation are pretty reputable. You're burning at the right speed so it's not that. What program are you using? I would suggest trying to back the game up again using DVD Decrypter (if you haven't already used this program). From memory, I don't think there's any special procedures for backing this game up. Though I would suggest paying a visit to www.swapmagicfix.com to see if you have to apply a patch to this game in order for it to be played on SM 3.3

i am using DVD Decrypter. When i click on the swapmagicfix web, the link doesnt list the Swbf patch.

I think if this site doesn't list the patch for this game then it doesn't need a patch. Perhaps you should try burning at 4x - I read that some people have had problems burning at 1x, but when they burn at 4x the game works fine. Make sure that you are burning the ISO file, not the MDS file.
