If you don't like the answers given, then don't ask the question. No one said Memorex was cheap, just "crap" there is a difference.

Thats a pretty bold statement against all us idiots with much more experience and all you have to back you up is the experience of you and your buddy. You both might have actually gotten lucky with memorex and got some that was made by a manufacturer other than cmc mag but believe me you will eventually get some that is made by cmag and it isn't worth the gamble to me especially when you can buy some grade A media such as verbatum or TY and know exactly what you're getting every batch for about the same price or just a hair more.

Well come on guys hello76 maks a good argument. 1) hello76 uses memorex and hello76 is a name we all know and have grown to trust 2) his "buddy" also uses memorex, I feel better already. 3) He just called us all idiots and that just seals the deal. I don't know about you guys but I know I'm sold.

i can safely say i have tried more DIFFERENT kinds of media in my 3+ years of burning than you will EVER buy in your ENTIRE lifetime. i've tried DOZENS of different brands, from the princo crap and memorex crap that you speak so highly of to budget/average media such as prodisc, optodisc, tdk, hp, philips, store branded media such as GQ from frys, compusa/officedepot branded media, supermediastore branded media, linkyo, benq, imation, fake TYs sold under VARIOUS names, Ritek, maxell, and finally what everyone else here considers the best, being Taiyo Yuden and Verbatims.

this list of the various medias i've used in the last 3 years is not even close to being complete, i just named off a FEW of the ones i've tried and tested that came off the top of my head...

seemingly, you put your "buddy" so high on a pedestal, yet, i am willing to bet that his "experience" isn't even close to that of some of the newer members here on Afterdawn.

i don't need to stoop to such an immature level as to "name calling" as you have done hello76, but, hey, whatever makes you feel as if you are "right"...all the power to you. :) i'm not going to waste my time and argue with you, but, at least i will be the one laughing when your memorex turns to unplayable/pixellated crap in a few months/years.

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

No offense and no hard feeling here, but seriously that is one crap media or it's the one and only famous "shitmorex" period. Unfortunately, your buddy knows nothing about medias regardless of his experiences.

Your buddy probably has a quality burner that can handle those memosux discs.

Myself,I have no trouble with cmags on my benqs, but like yesterday,we all get tired of answering all the many problems members are having and it usually comes down to memosux media!

We are the Idiots? NOT! I think the shoe is on the other foot my friend!

Why buy cmags when you get some riteks/hitachi/and even ty for the same price and even cheaper? When memosux goes on sale,it is usually about 40 cents apiece. I just got some fuji tys a couple weeks ago for 33 cents apiece. Ritek -office depot media for 28 cents apiece.I have even gotten ricohjpn-01 for 14 cents apiece!

Good media more expensive? NOT!

Pine media, Unfortunantly there are a lot of media out there worse the cmags. If you would have bought the dvd-r 2x then you would have been ok with those hitachis. The other 4x speed, pure crap:

Pine DVD+R 4x (MEDIA ID001)
Pine DVD-R 2x (MXL RG01....)
Pine DVD-R 4x (AN30........)

HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

I just like to put my 2 cents in ....... Memorex is crap alright..... but 3yrs ago when I really got into burning and was a Memorex blinded newbie, I used them exclusively! 3yrs ago Memorex was manufactured by RITEK..... which is a VERY decent brand! The more recent Memorex is made by CMC and they are crap! When I bought a spindle of 100 of them and more than half became coasters with skipping galore I was really mad! I even bought a new computer cause of it! I didn't know any better. Then I joined AD! Wow...... I have been burning about 30 or so a week and my collection has increased dramatically! And since I started to burn with TYs, Sonys, Verbs, Maxells.....NOT ONE coaster OUT OF THE BUNCH....... And this is because I joined and read up on all the info from this forum, and all the great contributors that WANT to help EVERYONE........ EVEN YOU HELLO76......... AND YOU HAVE THE NURVE TO CALL PEOPLE NAMES FOR JUST TRYING TO eNLIGHTEN YOUR HORRIZONS? How generous of you! And thank you for your contribution!

i think it's time for some thunder. i won't give a long reply as lately the idiots have been coming off better than me. suffice it to say media is an emotive subject and we have been constructive in both of hello76's posts, but know it's dropped to the childish level so we should call for thunder
