I recently (last month) purchased an emachines computer for somewhere in the vicinity of $320 after rebates. It has a dvd rom drive. Before i buy a dvd burner i would like to know if you experienced users think my system will have what it takes to make copies. can you giove me a rough estimate of the system requirements etc.?
I have an Emachines T2085, it has AMD Athlon 2000+ processor, 80 gig HDD, and 256 MB of RAM, it came with a DVD Rom drive and a CD burner, what i did was get rid of the CD burner, get a better power supply because my old one didn't have enough wattage, and i bought a LG Super Multi DVD Drive GSA-4163B. and yes it takes quite a bit of time to use shrink (a little over 2 hours to encode and burn Assault On Precint 13), but the qualtiy of the back-ups are pretty good. if u want good quality back-ups, make sure u use good media, if u want faster, then u must get a faster processor, other wise, u must be patient
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but my Chief Financial Officer at home has been hinting that I might soon be able to replace my current 5-year old system. I have a 1.5mghz, 512mb ram and 80gb hdd. I know some of you guys/gals have "killer" machines and I'm not really looking to go that route (I'm not a gamer). Which is more important: a faster processor or more ram? I obviously hope to increase both significantly. Thanks.
i have a emachine that i bought refurbished for $329 from tigerdirect.com about two years ago. Let me tell you, the little computer has done everything, it has not failed me in anyway. i installed a madDog burner that has worked like a charm. probably the best $329 i've ever spent.
