re-author a disc I bought ( collateral)

I have tried backing up a dvd I bought Collateral and I clickthe re-author mode and when I back it up I get the wide screen version and english close captions on it? I would like to know how to back up the dvd with out the wide screen mode and not have the english captions show up on the bottom of the screen thanks Rickey.

it's ages since i did this movie so can't remember if it has both normal & wide screen versions on the disc.

as to the the subtitles i always have this 'problem'. i'm however too lazy to change the way i copy films in Shrink, so i just turn them off on the dvd players i play them on. there is a link somewhere that shows how to do it properly but 'fraid i can never find it
