Big problem with inside clip

My friend opened his ps2 recently to install a flip top. However he damaged the power/reset ribbon cable and have ordered a new one. The ribbon came today and when trying to clip the ribbon back onto the ps2, the clip that holds the ribbon to the ps2 snapped off.

Is there a way of connecting it without the clip or is there a way of putting the clip back at where it was because it doesn't look damaged?

p.s. I have tried cellotape but that doesn't work.

Just to add, it's the little brown clip that came off when you open the bottom of the ps2 to clip the ribbon cable back together.

No, it's the clip that holds the ribbon cable on the bottom of the ps2. Once connected to that, the other side connects to the power/reset button.
