I've noticed that when I burn DVDs on lightscribe DVD discs (3 so far), I get skipping or freezing on playback (using stand-along DVD player). Every other regular DVD disc I burn on is fine. The lightscribe discs are Verbatim DVD+R. Anyone have an idea what the problem is?

Which model of lightscribe burner do you have?

Benq and HP are the only ones I know about.I'll bet its an HP!

I use the same discs with no problems. Are the other DVDs that burn fine DVD-R or DVD+R? Are you using your Lighscribe burner to make the discs that come out fine? Have you tried burning different movies?

Yes, it is an HP. It came with the computer. I'm using Verbatim LS DVD+R. And I am using the Lightscribe burner to burn the non-LS discs that come out okay. I'm just a little hesitant to keep on burning LS discs before finding out if anyone else is having the same problem. The discs are pricey. But I'll try again and see, since rwp2084 isn't having any problems.

My HP 640c didn't get a chance at the lightscribe media.The compatability did not pass my test.3 coasters in 2 days also didn't make me happy.

I swapped out that burner for my older benq 1620 with well over 1200+ burns and my backups are back to norm,no coasters,and they play everywhere. I also tried to re-rip a few of those hp backups that were on taiyo yuden media and both my benq's and litey 167t kicked them out for crc errors.

Sorry I couldn't help you out much.That hp 640c also came with my pc,but I use full hub printable media so the lightscribe feature was not really necessary.

I agree with you ddp. I needed a new pc in a hurry,as you have answered many of my problems on that other pc of crap pc I had. I got a good deal on this new pc so the lightscribe burner didn't mean much to me. I've answered way too many posts with members having problems on hp dvd writers and I wasn't expecting much out of this one.

A late reply, but it was finally proven that it was indeed a BURNER PROBLEM. I went ahead and bought a BENQ and IT WORKS! After a few wasted LS discs, I finally have one that does not skip or freeze when burned with a BENQ. Thanks for valuable info.........
