Using DVD Decrypter and prime Fugi made in Japan discs, and doing my usual in eliminating anything but the "Title 1" main picture and choice of sound, and am more and more frequently winding up with 1.5 +/- hours of directors and producers giving lectures on entire disc about how the movie was made. BUT NO MOVIE!! Happened with "Kinsey," "The Life Aquatic,"and "Dogville"---all ripped within the past couple of weeks. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Looks like you are picking the wrong audio track. Make sure to preview the audio if getting rid of a track. Right click on the preview window while playing in Shrink and it will list the different audio option. You can use any of them. Usually the 1st one is the regular movie.

Decryter and Fuji, not a bad combo, but I'd suggest adding some more software to the mix. Even with movie only some of the blockbuster size movies need shrinking if you're putting it on DVD5. DVD Shrink is the freebie. You can find a comprehensive guide at DVDR Digest. Just be aware the last version incorporated "Quality Setting" to improve quality at higher compression. There are editing feature in Shrink as well. You can even learn how to do menu and movie only in full backup mode, or just segments in the reauthor (editing) section. Shrink has a built in viewer so you can tell what you're editing. If you want to spend some bucks, one of the better, yet easy to operate tools is DVDReMake. If you really want quality, check out the Rebuilder. You can read about it here at AD and the downloads and more info can be found at http://www.dvd-rb.com . Several of the transcoding apps on the market do Movie only when set to that option. DVDCopy3 http://www.intervideo.com and CloneDVD2 from Slysoft http://www.slysoft.com are a couple of good candidates and you can get trials to check them out. The DVDCopy3 is a personal favorite of mine, high quality video output and fast. I've only seen better video from Rebuilder and that at higher compression levels.
Thanks for the info. Comes to pass that I DO use BOTH Decrypter (ver 3.5) and Shrink (ver 3.2), and am sorry that I did not mention that in initial post. Copied a couple of movies last night, being VERY careful when in "re-author" mode (where I always go because I'm only interested in the movie itself and not the other menu items) and they both came out with no problem. I find it hard to believe that on those recent attempts, where I wound up with only the directors and producers going thru how they made the movie, and taking the same amount of time as the movie, that I was so tired that I screwed up so badly.
But aside from being careful, you mentioned some alternatives to Shrink----especially your favorite DVDCopy3. I guess that program would replace Shrink. Since one of the things I worry about most is compression, I wonder whether it does a better job of it (without being very much more complex) than Shrink?
Actually easier than Shrink. However, it doesn't have the editing abilities Shrink has. For transcoding movies I don't see the need though, if you have a good app. You have the selection for Movie Only as well as Full Disc and a few others, so you don't need to go into editing. For those who like to edit, it does have some editing abilities. It works as good or better than Shrink at high compression and it's a lot faster, if that makes a difference.
