been away for sometime used to use ritek 4x purple and iam looking for the same quality of disc to use again thanks

@micks hi :) the purple 4x branded Ridisc are Ritek GO4.
Ridata 8x are Ritek's own brand and id out G05
as you can see by my sig that's what i use, although the 4x times are getting a bit harder to get now. the 8x are just as good.

@gurnard, no worries, the batteries had just gone in my keyboard, so i wasn't as quick as i might have been :O

i've been trying to help Auslander get his new PC setup and was hopping round the forums in between. i saw Ritek and thought of you right away

give us a little more info on your machine. and yes you can burn 8x rated at a slower speed
it's you that set's the speed you wish to burn at
to be honest i never burn faster than 4x to guarantee a successfull burn

maximum 4x write speed on either -R or +R, and it seems it has a max read speed of 10x for either, so firmware permitting you should be able to write to 8x discs at 4x.

Anyone agree or not ?.

cheers. only come across the question 'can i use higher speed discs on my burner sure but burn them at a lower speed' a few times so wasn't 100%. hadn't tested it in my burner yet as haven't got around to poking around in my firmware with omnipatcher to see which makes/speeds i need to test..
