is this just crazy or what?!?!

Tragic death after marathon gaming session.
After having recently joyfully proclaimed that research done by nerdy scientist types revealed computer games to actually be good for you, it now appears that, tragically, every up has a downside, as we learn that a gamer has died after a marathon 50 hour gaming session.

With all the recent wild game-related stories coming from the area - a clinic opened for online gaming addiction, divorce custody battles for online games accounts, even murder over the theft of a virtual dagger - it's perhaps unsurprising that this unfortunate death occurred in Asia. The 28-year-old South Korean man, identified only by his family name Lee, played games almost non-stop (breaking only to go to the toilet and take brief naps) for 50 hours in an Internet cafe in Taegu. Lee seemingly had an obsession with gaming, as he is reported to have recently quit his job so that he could spend more time playing games. When he failed to return to his home, his mother asked former work colleagues to try and find him. They finally located him at the cafe, where Lee told them he would finish his game and go home. He died just a short while later.

The South Korean police believe that the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion. If University researchers in Nottingham can do studies that show gaming can be of benefit to health, it clearly still stands that too much of anything can be a bad thing. The online gaming industry in Korea is enormous, but this tragic death maybe suggests that some of the pile of money being made could be put towards instilling into gamers that just a little restraint could make a lot of difference. Sad.
