this site is the best alot of info here.... i am a newbie to ripping so far ive been fairly sucessful except for a couple of dvd+r. why is it that some dvd+r will play in my ps2 but some wont....it says CANT READ DISC..i am using dvd shrink for the burning any ideas.

When that happens it probably is because its bad media it has not been pressed well what i would suggest is to downoad the free program from here Called DVD Identifier. It will tell u exactly who manifactured the disc and if its good quality or not u can even post the manifacturer here and people will tell u if they are any good.

+R discs for mee are better than minus but that for me... try that and keep me posted....

i am using decrypter with sony DVD-R dvds and i am finding that when i copy to hard dive i am able to view the movie..... but when i burn the dvd it wont play in my cpu or dvd.hheeelpppp

hello cfiluz2u what is your method dvddecrypter to rip shrink to compress DVD Decrypter to burn??? this is a very important bit of info
also did you try the pfogram previously suggested to id your blank media? probably the most common cause of botched burns is the use of cheap sub-standard media but sony is usually a safe bet so I believe the problem lies else-where but better safe thatn sorry

how are you using shrink did you follow a guide full disc or reauthor?
open decrypter like you were going to rip the burnt dvd what does it show is on the dvd. please provide details I've made a lot of assumptions here if I am wrong feel free to tell me.

I hope that helps clear up the process in which u have to go through to complete a full successfull backup DVD.
