those suck~ am i am being honest with you. Daxon manufactured media is on par w/ princo (taiwanese manufacturered) media..not good at all. just so you know...i would get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatims instead of wasting your money on THOSE discs in question. :)

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Yep, Kivory666 is absolutely correct! Crap media, don't buy it, don't touch it! You may get exposed to a deadly disease that's been spreading called mediacrapitis! lol

I think they're mediacrapititus too. Good discs are not expensive. For instance I get my tubs of 25 verbatims for about 7pounds in the uk.

Here's a site to give you a little enlightenment on dvd media quality:

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Daxon: 4th class
Prodisc: 2nd class, but probably at the bottom of 2nd class in my opinion.

We can find you better media that that, probably even cheaper!

Imo that digitalfaq page is full of BS and it's a waste of time reading it. Grading media on just MID codes doesn't work very well at all for a number of reasons including:
1. Nearly as important as the media quality is the burner and its write strategy (firmware).
2. Many manufacturers ship out "B grade" media under some smaller brands which can't be compared with the discs they make under OEM contracts for name brands even though the MIDs are the same.
3. Some MIDs are used by several manufacturers (legally) and nowadays it is also very common with fake MIDs.

Now Daxon media is for sure of much higher quality than what Princo can even dream of producing so I don't know how anyone can say that they're in the same "class" (or even that they would be worse). Daxon is also for example an OEM of Sony media. With a decent burner they should at least perform ok.

hi tracy,

well, i have the SAME drive as you and i live down a little further south, in LA~ :)

from MY OWN EXPERIENCE w/ linkyo, they STINK too..because of the ones i got, they are FAKE TYG02 coding on the 8x DVD-R media flavor. i would suggest you NOT purchase them anymore if that is what you have too, i went into further depth a few months ago about Linkyo, they are the "budget media" offered at supermediastore that my friend fell for and he gave me a 25pk spindle to try and test...they did NOT perform very well and i have pixellation and skipping throughout all 25 of those discs i burned...i burnt them ALL @4x too~

i have used some prodisc in the past too, varied results, some were OK, some were pretty bad...being in cali, you can get GOOD quality media that is not much more expensive than the crappy stuff...with all of best buy sales and office depot, etc...$0.40/disc is considered a pretty decent price...prodiscs are only a few pennies cheaper per disc, it's WORTH the $0.40 price to get Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims to me...

@jsl

i was mearly comparing the quality of the burns i have HAD on daxon media, mind you i have TRIED AND TESTED all the media i comment about or i make it quite clear that i have not used it before if i have not. :) my princos from years ago were one of the very worst i have to date, next would be the CMC MAGs that happen to be Memorex branded...my daxons are on the same level of failure as those 2. perhaps i am being too "general" on my comment about the daxons, but, i have tried them and based on PERSONAL experience, they are NOT MUCH BETTER than the CMC MAGs or Princos' i have used. i would categorize them PERSONALLY on that same level. none of them are readable now and their capacity to become coasters is equal to that of my princos and cmc mags. i made that comment to rhirhi based on MY OWN EXPERIENCE of the daxons, not some website comments that you can find to be true/false in your own opinions of any particular media.

my question to you since you say daxon is an OEM company of sony media, do you think they are EQUAL to that of the sony coded media? have you tried them both? i find the sony coded media very favorable, regardless if it's made in taiwan or japan, i would take the Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R sony branded media ANYDAY over sony's own coded media, but that is again my PERSONAL preference. just because daxon is an OEM of sony media does that place them on the same level quality-wise as sony's own coded media? just would like YOUR opinion on this...i myself would not rate daxon media on par with sony media, not even close, you might think otherwise and i am open to your opinion; but i have experience with both and test results do NOT even compare...

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03

Well it looks like the very same disc can be identified with both Sony MID and Daxon MID depending on the used burner, see http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19726
So no, I don't think there is any big difference between them.
