teflonmyk,
So you're saying these are real TYs but lower quality, kinda like rejects from the assembly line? Well in that case I'll use them to burn crappy movies. LOL : )

Make sure your firmware is up to date on your burner. This may help cut down on making coasters.

Funny you said that. I did have the latest firmware (1.07) from the TDK website. But just out of curiosity I flashed my drive with the older firmware (1.06) and soon after my drive seems normal again. I burned a disc and it burned it at full speed, stable all the way (whereas with 1.07 I was only burning at 1.1x max and it was fluctuating like crazy. Also, the drive seems to recognize disc, whereas with the 1.07 it won't even initiate the leadin.

Hard to say without the hub serial. Stay away from "Great Value" and "High Quality" branding.

read all the replies on this read from the beginning, plus any links to other afterdawn threads that are in here.... this is why we post so much about media around here, so that people can cross-reference very good advice/avoid being conned

hmm, so what do you think would be a good reason for wanting to retract my bid, should i just come right out and say "these are fake and i don't want them", or should i lie and say " i allready got some somewhere else, and please let me retract...bla bla and beg a bit. i don't want to get stuck with them

as i said before - i think you should READ this entire thread and any afterdawn links it refers to. that should put you off eBay for media, and you will also see links to reputable sites.
READ the help we've provided, and stay away from eBay media purchases....

Do yourself a favor and visit Rima.com. Not everyone who sells media on eBay is a con, but why gamble? More often than not YOU ARE GONNA GET FAKES! Besides, after the shipping that they charge, you are not getting a deal even if it is authentic!!! Look at their return policies on media!
I believe in finding the best deal, and I frequent eBay quite often. BUT eBay and DVD media don't mix!!! I will tell you what- I will buy some media from Rima and advertise it on eBay with a great price and outrageous shipping so that you can be assured that you are getting the real deal...
Sounds ludicrous, huh? If you do find authentic media, it is gonna be at an inflated price after shipping. When you find that unbeatable price, 9 times out of 10 they are going to be fake. Those are some sh*tty odds... This is coming from a 100% feedback eBay seller (Teflon_mike) Stick with reputable dealers...

I got some of those T1017 discs from ebay and they were terrible. I contacted paypal about the discs being fake and they issued a full refund including s&h. My only loss came from the fact that it cost me $8 to send the discs back but it was well worth the $8 to get all the rest of my money back. You may want to go through those discs and make sure they play correctly because even the ones that I got to burn all the way through with no errors had trouble in my player. I have a JVC XV-N410 and an NEC 3500 burner.
Some discs would start to play then freeze while others weren't recognized at all on the player. I tried some that weren't recognized on my player on a friends and his dvd player (forgot the brand) also couldn't read the discs. I was relieved when I actually got a few to burn but then bummed again when they went all wonky in my player.
PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to an online store mentioned above. The price difference is very minimal but the quality difference is a whole other world.
