I purchased a 50 stack of Yudens from meritline recently and I have a question.

My discs ID code is (YUDEN000-T02-00) this isn't the same code that I see everyone else looking at.

Are these genuine or fake?

I am having absolutely no problem burning with them, and am about halfway through the stack with only one coaster (heat problem, my fault, not the media).

I am just curious if anyone else is getting this coding.

I've been getting the Yuden000-T02-00 codes on the japanese sony +1x-8x sony media and also the +8x Fuji-also made in japan. They are excellent quality media.

Flip that disc over and look at the dye side-towards the inner hub. You should get a code on there if you look very carefully. My fuji's say: TG001159 and my sony say: TG001162.

If you see those TG00 codes on the dye,then they should be real ty's!
Taiyo yuden does make media for other brand named companies.They use to make it for the maxell -4x but I haven't seen them for a while.

How much you pay for those meritline.com yudens?

I paid 23.99 for the 50.

Also, the inner ring has TG001162. They were sold as Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8x No Stacking Ring (whatever that means).

Thanks.

That's the same numbers that's on my sony's and I love them.
I paid $19.94 last week for them at staples. That's about 40 cents apiece,not counting the governors share. I got the fuji's there 2 weeks earlier for 33 cents apiece.

Meritline is a fine site to purchase real ty's. Very reputatable.

No stacking ring is no biggie. I've bought taiyo yuden g01's in a 100 pack that was shrink wrapped only.I had to empty out some other spindles to use them to stack them in.

You should be ok with them,seeing as how your burner seems to like them so far. There are some burners out there that do have problems with ty's.Sometimes fakes or a bad batch,but it happens.

Yeah, my burner is a Plextor PX716A.

Seems to work fine with anything I do with it.

That Plextor will burn just about any brand you throw at it.

@SLaTher,

Yours are real TYs. According to my understanding, ID Code: YUDEN000-T02-00 is definitely genuine Taiyo. My Yuden said "TG001159" on the inner hub. Like Saugmon have stated, the FUJI and SONY 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" is also code YUDEN000-T02-00 as well, and yes... they all burns flawlessly.

@teflonmyk,

See my GT4 signature, I custom made it on Yuden 8X DVD+R silver inkjet printable dvd using the Epson R300 printer. Those Yuden are fantastic and flawless, indeed.

I know about the unbranded media. I get mine from Rima (the R200 is da bomb, huh? I am lovin' mine.). I mean branded, such as Sony, Fuji, etc, so that I can catch a good brick and mortar sale from time to time... All I can seem to find in stores is Memorex (I'll never buy that) and Maxell (the +R MIJ is pretty good)...
