I've been having trouble converting avi files to dvd's without the picture becoming stretched vertically to fit to full screen. All the programs I use present the same problem. Anyone have any programs to use that don't distort the picture?

Use DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB file and Auto Gordian Knot to convert the file to .AVI. You will have an option within the program (Auto GK) to select your screen size.

Get them here
DvDDecrypter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
Auto GK: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/auto...

The software works well for ripping, but I am still having trouble getting the ripped video to a dvd without stretching vertically

When you open the program look under step 4 "ADVANCED SETTINGS". Uncheck auto width; select fixed width and input the size you want.

After you have the .AVI, use VSO DivX To DVD and under aspect select "force 4:3".

That is true but why would you have him convert with one program and then use another to change the size of the screen. Especially when the first program used has that option??

@katia04
You say you've used Auto GK...look at the pic, go to the advanced settings and adjust the pic however you want under output resolution settings.

Because he needs them back as dvd-files anyway, so its either he kills to birds with one stone using auto GK or VSO. I prefer VSO.

@DVDBack23

My bad. I read it wrong from the jump. Look at my first post, I thought he was going the other way (DvD to AVI). You're right.
"The Light Comes On" Now it makes sense. I'm an idiot.

Sorry katia04. He is right. VSO soft is exactly what I use for that situation.
