I ripped a DVD with DVDFab Decrypter and I identified the main movie as VTS_04_1.vob-VTS_04_8.vob. I am trying to play my DVD's from my hard drive using a media server. All of the segments play idividually great. However, the first segment seems to have three languages of titles (English, Spanish and French) all together causing the segment to skip and bounce. What happened? What did I do wrong? How do I either fix it or avoid it from happening again. Thanks.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. When I view the .vob/.mpg files they are DVD quality on a large screen. Will converting them to .AVI cause a noticeable loss in picture quality/size?

Are you kidding me?
icumd, I don't know what you problem is, but converting your movie to a 700mb AVI is not going to solve it.

WOAH dude! He asked, I tried to help. I figured if he was saving movies to his hard drive to watch, 700mb .avi's would be a more space efficient way. The quality is not that bad. I travel a lot and back up movies to my laptop to watch all the time. The quality is nowhere near as bad as some might think.
I agree there may be better ways, I gave him one of many. Your comment gave him sarcasm. So instead of asking what someone's problem is, give a better solution. If not then you're a part of the problem.
**Edit: As a matter of fact, I've been on a plane before and people have asked to borrow the DvD I was watching when I was done. When I told them it was on the hard drive, they were amazed. Don't know about you but I don't have to watch movies in HD all the time.

My "problem" I think is probably very simple but I'm too new at this to figure it out. I want to convert a DVD main movie into a single mpg file to play through a Media server using Microsoft's Media Connect software. I have used DVD Decrypt to creat an iso image and DVD Shrink to make the main movie into multiple .VOB files. I have changed the .VOB to .mpg and everything is great. All the single .mpg file play perfectly through the Media Connect software except the first one. That file start's up well and goes for about 5 minutes and then just stops. All the others work perfect. Any idea why this would happen or alternate methods/software to accomplish what I'm trying? Thanks.

I never asked you what your problem was. I said I didnt know what the original posters problem was. As in why he was having problems with the one VOB file.
To say a 700mb AVI is near dvd quality is not true in my opinion, but I'm not going to argue about it.

You're right. It's a matter of opinion, mine vs. yours, no argument there. Life moves on right.

I'm not really sure. I'm sure you have but try to create the file again. Other than that I'm at a loss sir especially since everything else is working for you.

Yes, it's all a matter of opinion. Hey, if it works for you, cool. :)
