I have been doing DVD's for about 3 years now. I have about 500 movies that I have treasfered and remastered from VHS to DVD. I have used just about every type of media, Generic, Imation, Memorex, Phillips and others. I find that I have had in the past more trouble with Memorex then any other media. I am now only using Phillips and Tayio Yuden DVD's. I find that these two types of media are the best as far as I am concerned. Even the new memorex DVD's that are out that are suppose to be better and more scrach resistant aren't as good as they claim. I have found that you have to burn them very slow or you end up with skips and audio problems. Any way you should never burn a DVD faster then 3 times, even though the disk will handle 8 times write speed. That might be good for data but no good for movies. It's just like when you burn music disc's the faster you burn the more problems you have, like skips and lost music. Also to consider is a good quality burner. Not one of these you can buy at WallMart either. I have tried them and they are junk. Just thought I would let some people know that no matter what type of media that you use, it's the burner that counts, The better the burner and the slower you burn the better the movie. Also to consider is the software to make your movies, to convert them to an mpeg2 format. Just like the rest of the process of making a great quality movie, the software has to be good also.
