I have made a backup of THUG2 with dvd decryptor (first iso-read then iso-write at 1x on memorex dvd). I use swap magic 3.0 cd, then GTA San Andreas (Bigger TOC) then i swap for THUG2. First everything went fine, the movies from activision and neversoft were shown and after the last movie, it started "loading" and when the loading-"bar" was entirely full the game froze...
I have the same problem with my backup of tony hawk's pro skater 3...

I have succesfully made a backup of 'burnout 3' and 'jak and daxter 1' (also memorex discs and also with swap magic and gta SA) and they play perfectly...

Can anyone help me and tell me what to do...

you could adjust your burn speed or maybe clean your ps2 lens for starters.i dont think size is the issue with this game.

1x works for me but my burner is also a 4x burner.some burners burn better at high speeds.the technology has advanced so newer burners are capable of faster burn speeds.most people probably have older or slower burners so 1x works for most.the way san andreas is built it has to copied perfectly in order to play right.and your burner might burn better to DVD-R or DVD+R and switching formats might help.mine burns better to DVD+R but it still burns to DVD-R pretty good.and adjusting the lens closer to the disc helps read dvdrs better.it doesnt offer any advantage to commercial media.ive adjusted the lens on 2 ps2 and both read dvdrs better after doing so.actually i adjusted my first ps2 to read san andreas and it worked.but there is also the alternative to try and find better dvdr media that works better in your burner but that usually is a trial and error process.just make it a habit to try new media after you use up your current media so you can get the feel for which works best.i wouldnt suggest going out and buying a bunch of media before you need to.try to get what you have to work.youll learn more that way.

But burnout 3 and jak and daxter work fine... And i've already tried to burn on TDK, Verbatim,Hi Space... And it's not that my ps2 can't read the dvd (the movies in the beginning of THUG2 play like they're supposed to...) but the game just freezes after those movies when the loading-bar is entirely full...

I use maxell's and i have learned that on these i used:

Dvd+R = 2x
Dvd-R = 4x

I got better results with the 4x more than the 2x cause of the skips, and frezzes...

And i only use DVD Decrypter, too do all my work, so dont buy nothing just use that program!

well dont refresh the toc.thug2 isnt that big to begin with.you would refresh the toc on games over 4gb.and maybe copying that game at a higher speed would help.even if other games worked at 1x doesnt mean thug2 wouldnt work at a higher speed.

I've tried burning at a higher speed but it still plays the movies and it freezes at the loading-bar... (with cd=>GTA>THUG2 method)

But i've also tried the DVD=>THUG2 Method and then the borders of the screen become green, then blue, then the whole screen becomes
black and it freezes...

I've also also ;) tried using dvdloader but that didn't work at all...

(I've tried all this thing with dvd+r and dvd-r but that didn't seem to make any difference...)

And i also have another question, how do you adjust the lens closer to the discs... ? (I know how to open a ps2 and i've cleaned the lens already). But will it help adjusting the lens closer? Because the ps2 can read the discs but it freezes at a certain point...

PLZ help...

the problem may be youre using swap magic 2.0.it is very outdated.but you said you use the cd disc to boot the game and it works after refreshing the toc.and when you tried the dvd swap magic disc it didnt work at all.have you tried refreshing the toc on the dvd swap magic disc when you try to play thug2.dvdloader should work for most games that wont boot with swap magic 2.0.sometimes you have to select an option on dvdloader like 5v3 no pn in order for games to boot with it.how do you use dvdloader step by step?

I'm actually using dvd 2.0 and cd 3.0 , i was wrong in my first message (i will change that message...).
I have never tried refreshing TOC with the dvd, i will try that.
Neither have i tried selecting a special option with dvdloader because i didn't know wich one i should use. Which option do you suggest? I think i'm just going to try all different options :p and see if one of them works.

dvdloader step by step: SwapMagic DVD=>slidecard=>DVD Loader =>eject=>SwapMagic DVD=>I hit X=>slidecard=>THUG2=>I hit X

to tell you the truth,it would be a good idea to maybe invest in some swap magic 3.6 disc.you wont have to go thru all that trouble to get some games to work.so far 3.6 hasnt needed cdloader/dvdloader for any games.but its still fun to figure out stuff doing it the hard way.

Not at all true.

I recommend burning at 4x, and im sure many other people have the same and different opinions.

Does Tony Hawks Underground work with Swap Magic 3.6 plus even if the size is 4.33gb. I may of had a bad copy because the game didn't even fully install onto hd advance and I've never run into any problems backing up other games.

if you extract the game it should come out to a smaller size then you copy it to dvdr to play it with swap magic 3.6.

i dont know how you would get it to work with a hdloader program.
