Newbie here....absolutely love this site!

After doing some research, I have finally decided on using a flip-top case and swap magic to play my backup games.

Having said that, I have an unopened DMS3...pm me for details!

If you have an unopened DMS3 chip, just install it instead of using Swap Magic.

I've never soldered before, so instead of possibly breaking my ps2 I'd rather go a safer route :)

Smart thinking. I buy & repair PS2s 4 a living & 1 of the major causes of problems is incorrect or crap installation of modchips. Where not just talking solder bridges, no complete missing legs off VLSI chips or missing chips or get this DRILL HOLES through the motherboard 4 access of the wireing 4 a mod. I recomend in 99% of cases SMD 3.6 + SlideCard or Dix_Fix as the safest quickest mod method. The only problem with fliptop is that there is 2 different types of disc nip (the white bit of plastic that clamps the disc 2 the dvd spindle) & when u have the wrong 1 the disc just slides on the spindel when the dvd motor spins.

I would reccomend Swap Magic as well. I got mine from techwizad.com allthough he sells modchips as well i chose swap magic for my slimline ps2 as i didn't want to void the warranty but i will upgrade to a modchip when the warranty runs out.
