Can i use a dual layer disc to back up a ps2 game?

I have done a search for this and i cannot find out if i can do this.Any hwlp on this would be appreciated.

Depends on how your PS2 is modded. If you're a Swap Magic user, its no go. SM doesn't know how to boot dual layered disks... yet. If you're a modchip user, I think the higher end chips are able to load them fine, but I cant confirm that, as I'm not a chipper.

My opinion... there are only a few games made on DVD9 (dual layer) that are worth the effort and money of backing it up on DL media. Its far cheaper to backup on DVD5 in case something of the burn goes wrong. When you buy a nice spool of DVD5 disks for less than a buck a piece, it sure beats the average price per disk on the dual layer options. I prefer making cheap coasters not expensive ones.

Davedough is correct
Swap Magic is no go
Modchips that can are DMS4 and Matrix Infinity
there is also a patching program called Toxic DL Patcher
you can patch the ISO is you have any DVD9 (dual layer)
ready chip and it will play DVD9 back ups.
