Costco has a sale on TDK printable dvd's. The sale is buy 1 100 pack get 1 free or a 50 pack for $10.50. They are CMC but for someone just using them to store data, the 50 pack for only $10.50 is a good deal.

I agree that the Costco deal on the -Rs(TTG02) is a great deal at $42 +tax for 200 discs. But the CMCs are not worth the risk or the potential waste of time(In my opinion).

Neodave--
They 100 packs aren't CMC?? I just got a 50 pack to check them out because I didn't want to get the 2 100 packs and have them all be CMC but if they arent CMC I think i'm going to have to go back and get the 2 100 packs.

Sorry not trying to crap on your thread. I got 200(2*100) of the DVD-R's yesterday and they code at 'TTG02'. They burn great. The surface is absolutely perfect looking. Usually on some of my Riteks, Maxells, and even some of the Verbatims the outside edge looks ever so slightly smudged. These are perfect all the way to the edge. The -R's are not CMC. I believe most of the +R's will be CMC. I assume you got the +R's? I was so impressed I went back and got 200 more today. I just hope I can use them before HD takes over.

b4 i bought those TDK -R, i checked out the comments in this forum. 99% of the members here said that TDK -R is one of the top choice among TY and Verbatim. so, I got 200 pack of -R for 50 (including tax). I think it is a good deal.

@rihgt682 -
see 2nd link in my sig for examples of CMC horror stories -
..Memorex/CMC - don't let them near your Burner..... - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/195438
i'd get government powers or trading standards powers to rename CMC to Crap Media Company or Crap Media Crooks myself :)

... First of all, CMC is garbage media - In my opinion (and most others here at AD) CMC stands for Crap Media Corporation ...
... Second, whether +R or -R is better is something that can be argued forever ... It is a matter of taste and opinion ... Personally, I prefir +R because my drive supports bitsetting, and I am convinced that this increases compatability with more players ...

rihgt682,
The TDK dvd-r's just happen to be made by a better manufacturer than the TDK dvd+r's. There is about a 50/50 chance of getting garbage cmags with TDK dvd+r's. This isn't the case with every brand of dvd. I like catfreak, prefer the DVD+R format because I also booktype my dvd+r's to dvd-rom but if I was buying TDK's I would definately get the -r format. I'll stick with brands that use reputable manufactures to make their dvd+r's eg. verbatum, taiyo yuden, sony.
